Information Communication and Technology
Our Information Communication and Technology (ICT) Division/Section is established and all officers are working to ensuring that PHA will move towards the digitalization of the modern ICT world.
The Health and medical information.
This very important health information system is maintained to ensure that we improve the system with modern IPOD effective and efficient reporting from the health facility right at the rural areas.
Hospital Medical Records
Our Goroka Hospital Medical records to be up graded to have proper system in place to store and record for safe keep all medical records for patients.
Establishment of the E- Library
The Goroka Provincial Hospital under the EH PHA now has an e-library that is currently being accessed by the Doctors and Nurses for information. Thank to UNICEF for funding this e-library for the Hospital that is now managed by our IT team.
Communication
The Internet services.
The EH PHA has the internet services and email that officers are accessing for effective and efficient communication and service delivery.
Telephone system.
All offices are connected with the telephone services for communication both internal and external. The telephone system for the hospital is not being effectively in operation. The system is undergoing improvement for the installation for the PABX system to connect the new diagnostic centre.
Health Radio Network
Our Health Radio network is widely installed throughout the health facilities and have been functioning very well but to date lacks maintenance and up keep has been lacking as the technicians have been laid off. We are now working to upgrade the health radio network to maintain close communication with the facilities in the districts.
Technology.
The Alesco Payroll/Asenda Payroll.
EH PHA is into the Asenda payroll and maintains all position under this system. All EH PHA positions are configured into the Alesco system and are paid by Finance and DPM while EH PHA maintains control of the payroll and its entries to pay officers.
PGAS
Provincial Government Accounting System (PGAS) is the PNG Government Approved Accounting system widely used by all Government departments and EH PHA is currently using this Accounting system. All features of the PGAS system are available but officers have limited knowledge to excess all of them. Only the accounting features are used and printing of reports while bank reconciliation, payment of wages, and Asset management and others are not.
IFMS – Integrated Financial Management Systems
Eastern Highlands Provincial Health Authority is currently using the IFMS Budgeting model. Since 2015 IFMS budgeting model has been introduced and we have been budgeting on line and submitting our budget to Treasury using the IFMS.
The accounting model of the IFMS is soon to be rolled out in 2018 by Department Finance and Treasury for implementation.
MSUPPLY
It is a system developed by the World Vision a non-government organisation. the system is use to monitor the distribution of medicines and keeping track of the medicine stocks in each hospital medical stores.
Networking
Our ICT is looking at providing networking services to some of our services for effective management to minimise the paper use. PGAS networking services for management, Centralize the networking for printing services for some functions of PHA. Utilize email services for all and easy communication.
