Housing and accommodation lease arrangements

Property management

The Property and management unit is responsible for lease arrangement with the land lord for the medical officers and for allied health officers.

Managing institutional houses and accommodation lease is a very difficult task as experienced by our officer responsible for housing. The negotiation for accommodation lease with the home owners is a very difficult task as the rates offered is sometimes not accepted. The rates we offer are determined by the industrial awards and we cannot go any higher then the award. And further more negotiation is done with the considerations to annual funding allocation for rentals.

Our institutional staff housing is a major issue and a concern as throughout the province and by the facilities accommodation facilities have deteriorated over many years of lack of maintenance. New staff houses are an urgent need but again funding is an obstacle however plans are now being made to attend to this issue

Accommodation Lease for Medical officers.

Eastern Highlands Provincial Health Authority does not have sufficient institutional houses to accommodate all our medical officers and so we have to lease accommodation for our medical officers who are currently serving the in Eastern Highlands.

By our PHA manpower structure there are 37 positions for the medical and dental officers while three are at the management totalling to 40 positions.

Allied Health workers accommodation at K600 per month to be paid to officers living in rented accommodation with lease agreements and paid to the land lord.
